The KMA is a not for profit
independent group of motorcycle enthusiasts who ride
different types of motorcycles, but we share a common
interest in keeping motorcycling a safe and pleasant
sport. We participate in legislative activities, which
promote the sport of motorcycling. One of our goals is
to keep helmet use a freedom of choice for motorcyclist.
We continue to strive towards motorcycle safety,
awareness and enforcement of existing anti
discrimination laws in the state. In addition, members
support local communities throughout the state by
organizing toy runs and other events, which benefit
local charities. We invite and encourage you to become a
member of our organization regardless of the type of
motorcycle you ride. In fact, you can become a member
even if you do not ride a motorcycle. Please help the
growth of the sport of motorcycling by becoming a member
today. Not only will you make a difference in your
community, but also you will have a great time doing so.
If you have any questions, please contact any of the
District or State Officers listed. If you are currently
a member, thank you!

It's Official!
As of this afternoon, 1-16-08, SB 33 - AN ACT PERTAINING
TO MOTORCYCLES - has been officially removed from our
path, for now. Many, many thanks to all who were active
in calling the hotline, talking to our legislators,
sending out postcards (within 24 hours of finding out),
and going to Frankfort in my stead. The motorcyclists of
Kentucky remain FREE. However, the biggest thanks of all
goes out to Sen. Julian Carroll for withdrawing SB 33
from the 2008 legislative proceedings. I ask that
everyone that made the call to the Legislative Hotline -
1-800-372-7181 - PLEASE call 1 more time and thank Sen.
Carroll and your representatives for listening to what's
on the minds of concerned Kentucky motorcyclists.
Unfortunately, we're not out of the woods yet. SB 33
could possibly come back as an amendment to any number
of other bills introduced this session. Or, it could
come back as something else toward the end of the
session. In either case, we're going to have to make
that call again. Lets hope not. If everyone continues to
monitor what's going on in Frankfort, then we will we
less likely to overlook anything. So, don't un-subscribe
to BILLWATCH just yet! You can also log on to
www.KENTUCKY.GOV or www.LRC.KY.GOV for up-to-date info
on what's happening in OUR government.
