May as Motorcycle Awareness Month

Hello All,

May has and is once again Motorcycle Awareness Month. Governor Beshear and many local Judge Executives, Mayors and other elected officials have passed proclamations declaring it as such. In Louisville District #1 is working on producing a short video that will be shown in the area on local TV stations. They have worked in conjunction with the Mayor's and Sheriff's offices to help get this done. District 10 in Carrollton has been working for some time to get some road signs warning car drivers to watch out for motorcyclists.

Last but not least is our annual ride to Frankfort which has changed a bit. For the past several years we have been riding to the All Vets Reunion or otherwise known as LZ Bluegrass hosted by the Vietnam Vets M/C and other veteran organizations at the Capitol Plaza Hotel. This year the event has moved and we are going to it still. Please see the flyer below and we hope to see you there. It will be held in Lawrenceburg, KY just a little south of Frankfort this year.

Districts 4, 10 and 11 will be converging on Rick's Tavern in Sparta at 9am on May 19th to head to the event. Kickstands up at 9:30am with a stop in Monterey to pick up other riders along the way. we hope you can join us. Rides from other parts of the state are welcome and are in the process of being finalized. See your local district officer for more info on any rides that may be happening in your area or just get one together yourself. The more the merrier. Hope to see everyone there. The opening ceremonies start in Lawrenceburg at Noon  ET so please try to be there by then if possible but if you can't make it til later then please still come anyway.

May Motorcycle Awareness Month

Hi:

Kentucky and the Kentucky Motorcycle Association, are proud to join other states across this country, to declare May as Motorcycle Awareness  Month.

We have been working with the state to get the message out on the radio, and on the message board on the interstates to watch out for motorcyclist.

I have also been working with local governments on getting proclamation's. This is a excellent opportunity to get to know local officials.

Please be safe and watch out for the other drivers.

New Year

Hello: Sorry it has taken me so long to Write. Hope everyone had a Happy Holiday. Still trying to get back in gear. Our Legislative Session began January 3rd. It is a 60 day session, with two big issues. Redistricting and Budget.

The first 3 weeks has been very contentious with the redistricting. Some other work is getting done though. The house has passed 99-0 a bill that states that if a POW/MIA flag is flown on government property it is to be made in America. It now moves to the Senate. There are other Issues out there such as a state ban on smoking. One that makes Sudafed a prescription drug. Other Veterans Issues. And many more. I am still looking through the different pieces of legislation for things that might concern us. Please get to a meeting to find out about the different things that you might be interested in and how you can help.

I want to thank Alecia Webb-Edgington for coming to our district meeting and answering questions. She is running for Congress in the 4th District.

I look forward to seeing everyone this coming weekend at the Freedom Fighter's Form.

See you on the road, and be safe.
